Distressed Wood Flooring

The distressed floor style has become even more popular recently. More homeowners are opting for a luxurius aged look in their flooring. Distressed flooring is artificially aged to give it a slightly worn finish. It works best for spaces where a beautiful rustic look is desired. There are a number of ways wood flooring is artifically aged, depending on the degree and style of “look” desired. The edges of each wood plank are hand scraped, swirl and kerf markings are added to resemble historic wood and the planks are brushed to remove glossing and give them a soft worn texture. We offer numerious distressed wood flooring options like the Tradewinds Helmnman Colletion shown here.

Selecting the ideal flooring can be a rather daunting task. Blanched & Bleached Wood Floors

Glossy brown stained wooden floors just won’t work with everyone’s décor, but you still want the luxury of hardwood floors. Sometimes, the softer white-washed look of a bleached floor is more suited to their style. The whitish coloration of these hardwood floors consists of wood that has undergone a bleaching process, also called blanching. This involves treating the surface of the wood to get rid of the color and by color, we mean the artificial dye or stain coating the wood. Blanching gives the wood an ashy white-washed look with the natural wood grain still being clearly visible. With this style you do not lose the charm and beauty of natural wood.
